Swift Transitions and its Founder, Rev. Kiki Barnes
...is a Durham, NC native, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996, then after answering the call to ministry years later, earned her Master of Divinity degree in 2012, both at Duke University. Rev. Kiki is an ordained minister who currently serves as a clinical chaplain at Duke Regional Hospital, serving on teams for ethics and palliative care. She feels called to minister to those at the margins, especially to those at the end of life. Most of all, Rev Kiki believes that ALL persons are created in the image of God; therefore all deserve care, respect and dignity at every stage of their journey.
Swift Transitions was borne out of a need for greater dialogue for those dealing with transitions at every stage of life, not just at death. We navigate through losses of all kinds, long before death-loss of a marriage, a job, a role within a family, loss of health, autonomy, and the list goes on. Most of these changes come upon us without warning. This site, this community hopes to serve as a place to find support, encouragement, and resources for the journey.
